Lorrie Whitington: Artist and Designer
(CCN Publishing Director and Editor)
Lorrie Whittington is a visual artist and designer living in a village outside Chichester in the UK, with her husband Luke (an infrastructure specialist in the Media industry), and daughter Orla.
Lorrie specialises in painting, illustration and photography, and offers a web design service to small to medium sized business enterprises. The majority of her work has been commission based for private collections.
Having trained in the ’80s in Art & Design at Amersham College of Art (Foundation and Diploma) and subsequently Fashion & Textile Design at UEL in London (BA), Lorrie has been working freelance for the past 20 years or so in London and on the South Coast, and has been selling her art online since 2000. Her background also includes marketing, project management, business training and experience (Post Grad Diploma and HNC).
Since graduating in the ’80s, Lorrie has exhibited all over the world and her work resides in many private collections, both in Europe, the US and South America. Having many artistic influences from the Renaissance, Baroque and Romantic, to the Post Modernist, her art is also deeply influenced by the iconography and art of the Celtic La Tene period. Her work embodies a diverse and eclectic flavour with a keen eye for colour, form and symmetry. Her work is mainly abstract in nature, and easily recognisable for her bold use of colours, texture and pattern.
As well as editor of Chichester Creative Network, Lorrie is also part of the editorial team for UK Handmade, an online magazine featuring UK based Artists, Designers and Artisan Crafts.
Lorrie is currently working on a series of illustrations for a children’s book, some OOAK hand painted wooden art objects and a series of original water colour paintings based on traditional Japanese silk weave and Cloisonne work.
