This year, Chichester Library is celebrating World Book Day with Chichester author Simon Brett, who will be talking about his books and writing.
World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading. This is the 15th year of World Book Day, and on 1st March children of all ages, with the support of libraries and schools, will come together to celebrate.
The World Book Day organisers send out more than 14 million book vouchers to children and young people on the day so that they can go along to a local bookshop and exchange them for one of eight new books. The aim is to get young people closer to books and help them discover new authors.
Simon Brett is author of the Fethering Mysteries Series, Blood at the Bookies, Bones under the Beach Hut and Blotto, Twinks and the Rodents Of The Riviera.
Over the years, Simon has been involved with various writers’ organisations. A former Chair of both the Crime Writers’ Association and The Society of Authors, he also chaired the Public Lending Right Advisory Committee. Simon is on the committee of the Royal Literary Fund, as well as being Patron to both the West Sussex Writers’ Club and the Chichester Literary Society.
Tickets for this literary event cost £3.00 and are available from Chichester Library. Please call 01243 777351 for further details.
